The Warrior Beat - school newspaper

When I arrived at East Dubuque High School as an English teacher in 1982, a school newspaper did not exist. Another English teacher, the business teacher, and I established a newspaper that year. We held a contest for students to give the newspaper a name, and The Warrior Beat was chosen. (Our school mascot is a Warrior.) Over the years our paper won many awards at several high school journalism conferences and workshops. I served as an adviser to the newspaper staff for most of the 25 years of its existence. For a few years, my desktop publishing class was involved in doing page layout and image editing for both our newspaper and yearbook.

This is the LAST ISSUE of The Warrior Beat from May 23, 2008.
